Parasaurolophus lived about 76 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period.
First discovered in 1922 in Alberta, Canada by Dr. William A. Parks. He named it Parasaurolophus, a name which means “crested lizard”. A name he gave the animal because of its prodigious bony crest that exists on top of its head. Fossils of this dinosaur have not only been found in Canada, but has also been found in parts of Utah and New Mexico.
The parasaurolophus has been a long time favorite of mine. Of all the dinosaur skulls i have illustrated, it is by far the most interesting. I always like to think of the parasaur as peaceful, herding animals that nurtured their young and took care of each other.
I wanted this parasaurolophus skull to be bright and colorful, bringing in some modern, bright fern leaves in the back to tie everything together. There is no doubt you will get loads of compliments wherever you wear this tank :)
